David Piper describes his 1000 mile route from Land’s End to Cape St Vincent via Santander, Spain and Portugal.  [Route details]  David lives in Cornwall and the route looks great, if demanding, but we would have to half his daily riding distances – at least!  The main challenges seem to be three major climbs away from the coast, the Cantabria and Picos de Europa, the fierce headwinds over the plains,  the Pena de Francia and El Portillo.  As they say, if you don’t want to do mountains, don’t come to Spain!  Might we be better to take the longer route out to the Spanish coast and then south into Portugal?
